Connecting with Disappointment
As the viral impact of this virus continues to unfold, allowing ourselves time to mourn our losses is vital. Mourning is a healthy part of any grieving process.
Music is quick therapy, so just:
1. Turn up your device’s volume
2. Write down losses you are experiencing as a result of this situation. Choose the one that is bothering you the most today.
3. Now think of a word that best describes how you feel about this loss. Do not overthink this - simply write down the first word that comes to mind down, preferably on a separate sheet of paper.
4. Click on the photo below, which will redirect you to YouTube.
5. Listen to the video, reading along with the lyrics on the screen.
6. Look at the word that you wrote down again, and thank yourself for being vulnerable. Hold onto the paper and keep it until you are ready to let the feeling go.
7. This exercise can be repeated anytime you realize that you are feeling a sense of loss.
